Middle School Camp: Adventure Afloat

skill level:   beginner
ages:   Youth entering grades 6-8

Ready for an action-packed week on the water? Jump into the world of canoeing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding while building your skills, making new friends, and taking on fun team-building challenges. From our base camp at Esther Beach Park, we’ll head out to explore the stunning Madison-area waterways, putting your paddling abilities to the test.

Throughout the week, you’ll not only fine-tune your paddling technique but also learn essential wilderness tripping skills, tackle longer-distance paddles, and master water safety in real-world conditions. Along the way, we’ll make time to relax, explore our natural surroundings, and even create some paddling-inspired art. This is your chance to experience the thrill of adventure, gain confidence on the water, and enjoy all that the outdoors has to offer with Rutabaga!

Note: Backup locations for windy days or water quality concerns include Olbrich Park and Rutabaga Paddlesports.
