Started in a garage in the early 1970s in London Ontario (are you seeing a trend here?) by a brother and brother-in-law, Nova Craft started making traditional canoes but using modern materials. At that point, the modern material was fiberglass. Now, it's Kevlar, aramid fibers, basalt, carbon cloth, and super strong infused resins to hold it all together.
We love Nova Craft boats. Most of them are old Chestnut Canoe Company designs, made by Chestnut in New Brunswick during the boom of wood and canvas canoes. Those designs hold up remarkably, and the Prospector 16, the Ford F-150 of canoes, is the choice of many for its versatility.
