"The Frost River has a smattering of everything-large and small lakes, beautiful falls, winding beaver streams and high beaver dams, tough, poorly-maintained portages, canoeable rapids and adventurous options. It is by far my favorite route in the Boundary Waters." - Cliff Jacobson

Canoe packs are built for a very specific task (hauling the stuff that will sustain you) in a very specific environment (the Northern Wilderness). In this setting, things like a seam ripping or a sidewall tearing or a strap breaking-little failures that would be an annoyance in everyday life-come with huge consequences. Which is why we make every pack and every bag in the manner we know to be the most effective at delivering superior performance-The Old Way.

The main foundation of crafting a pack built to last through years of adventure is sourcing premium materials that will hold up to the task. We use waxed cotton canvas for breathability and water repellency, solid brass hardware that develops an old-world patina with age and premium leathers- each thick and supple while remaining durable.

From robust packs built to weather all of the elements, to leather goods for the home or cabin- we handcraft items for the adventure of the every day. The Frost River shop is located in Duluth, Minnesota's Lincoln Park Craft District. It's here that the entire team- production crew, admin staff, and retail associates work collectively to bring our waxed canvas wares full circle.
