The Missouri National Recreational River (MNRR) protects over 100 miles of rivers and streams located between the state borders of South Dakota and Nebraska. The outstandingly remarkable cultural, ecological, geological, and recreational values found in this area led to a national park designation in 1978. Many recreational opportunities may be explored on the Missouri River in two districts: a 39-mile district and a 59-mile district. Excellent canoeing, kayaking, and camping experiences may be found throughout the park. MNRR is managed by the National Park Service with Park headquarters located in Yankton, SD.
