North American Society for Open Water Expeditionary Paddling (NASOWEP)
Main Hall: 283

9 Ledgewood Ct
Middlebury, Vermont 05753

(Pending)
We promote open water expeditionary paddle sports in North America (canoeing, kayaking, SUP'ing, and sports that crossover with paddling) as well as support those who do these activities by helping them to be safe, travel efficiently, and have fun! This inchoate organization was only recently conceived, when I was shopping for my upcoming ocean canoes, dreaming about routes I wanted to be able to safely do with them, and wishing a neutral organzation existed that could both provide paddlers info about open water paddling and host 2 different databases on its website that could better assist trip leaders in recruiting desirable partners or crew members and help paddlers find desirable expeditions that they could join. On this society's forthcoming website, it will also be fundraising for financially underprivileged paddlers. The org. will conduct public tours with our craft and let people either ride or paddle them in exchange for a donation. Funds acquired will not only pay for operating costs but also new craft that will belong to the society, which will decide democratically what trips will be done with them, when, and who will lead these voyages. The organization will be run similarly to a company, but will be non-profit, comprised of PT volunteers, and free for all to use! Stop by the booth to get on the group's contact list, and let me know if you'd be interested in either joining any of my trips or opening another chapter of this organization as well as if you'd appreciate any assistance in doing this. You might enjoy seeing what trips I've planned, when, and in what canoes. Of interest to you might also be how many people will crew them, how these crews will sometimes be revolving at different points along the routes, and also how most of these crews will be divided into teams that will rotate paddling during any overnight, multi-night, and multi-week crossings. You not only have a continent full of waterways to explore but also the 7 seas and lands beyond them!
