Stout is a Michigan resident, Michigan State University graduate, author, adventurer, president of I3 Marketing, LLC., and founder of Michigan Waterways Stewards.
Stout is a C-level, Fortune 100 marketing executive, and marketing consultant expert in brand management, business development, and driving transformational change. Over his career he has managed several national brands, taken regional companies nationally, transformed private label companies into national branded powerhouses, and turned longtime declining businesses into star financial performers. He has served on economic advisory boards, company executive and steering committees, and regularly consults non-profits and small businesses.
For recreation, Stout is a long-distance solo paddler and owner of several unofficial world records. He has solo paddled across Lake Michigan a record setting seven times, Lake Superior once, and competed in extreme paddling races across the U.S.
Wanting to give back to his home state and community, Stout founded Michigan Waterways Stewards. This is an environmental/conservation non-profit whose mission is to inspire current and future generations to protect and care for our treasured and vulnerable waterways

What started as summer fun on the local lake evolved into an obsession with extreme sport, high adventure, and personal achievement. Mike Stout’s crowning achievement was solo paddling across Lake Michigan a record-setting seven times and Lake Superior once. Stout will share with you the excitement of a new journey, the splendor of being surrounded by a magnificent sea of blue, taxing the mind and body, the worry of not surviving, and the exhilaration of completing another Great Lakes crossing.
