  Jeffrey Rohr

Jeff Rohr from a young age loved the outdoors. He built a canoe with his father at the age of 12 and spent his life guiding people in Canada and the US. His other passion he also obtained from his father was the love of music. He taught piano, played professedly and to this day is a singer song-writer.

At ager 19, Jeff and his brother did the first canoe trip in Canada and from then on, he has paddled thousands of miles in the US and Canada. Here are a few of the rivers in Ontario, Manitoba and the Yukon. The Mississagi, Missinaibi, Pipestone, Gull, Albany, Ogoki, Bloodvein and a first decent on the Seal River ending at the town of Churchill and the South MacMillan River in the Yukon.

In 1981 he met his wife Marcia, the love his life and excellent canoe partner. In 1983 they founded Rohr's Wilderness Tours guiding people on canoe trips, wilderness and international adventures.

In 1992, they found a great 40 acres on the Headwaters of the Wisconsin River and began to build a campground and livery which now has 47 beautiful sites, accommodating sites for all. Jeff continues to teach and Marcia now is an excellent guide!

It has not been all roses for the Rohr's. Their daughter Callie was diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 7 and died after a two- and half-year battle five days before her tenth birthday. The Rohr's now have created the Callie Rohr Foundation which has donated well over $200,000.00 to find a cure. They host several events in the summer to raise money including 2-disc golf tournaments on their property and a 14-mile canoe and kayak race. If you are interested in helping find a cure you can go to their website or contact them directly. www.RWTCanoe.com info@rwtcanoe.com

 Oh, What a Trip!
Caribou - upstairs Sun 1:30pm-2:15pm
Oh, What a Trip is a memoir of the first years leading up to how Jeff Rohr became a wilderness canoe guide for over 40 years. It is a humorous book that talks about the excellent adventures that most people would not embark on. The presentation will include some of these adventures and certainly would hope to inspire people to do their own excellent adventures and, most importantly, how to be successful and safe in the wilderness. The planning, including research, equipment, packing, and more is vitally important to canoetripping success. Jeff Rohr has been a teacher most of his life. Over the years he’s taught hundreds of people how to canoe and be safe in the wilderness and continues to do this today. If you want excellent memories, you have to have excellent adventures.

Jeff Rohr is currently working on a sequel to this first book where he will talk in details of the thousands of miles of river trips in Ontario, Manitoba, the Yukon, and the United States, including a 500-mile first descent in northern Manitoba.
