David Meier works as the Digital Communications Manager for Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness and is the host of the popular BWCA podcast "Big Red Canoe." He has been venturing to the Boundary Waters for nearly 40 years and loves to introduce new people to this special place, most recently his two elementary aged boys and their friends. He enjoys the adventure of traveling internationally, but feels that the most special places are here in the Midwest, on Lake Superior's North Shore and in the BWCAW.

Awakening Wonder - A Parenting Guide for the Boundary Waters
Sylvania - main floor Sat 12:30pm-1:15pm
Ever think about taking your kids to the Boundary Waters, but fear that they’ll either 1) leap from a moving canoe, or 2) complain so much about no electronics, outdoor bathrooms, and bugs, that it just won’t be worth the hassle of taking them? We will discuss how to bring your kids to the Boundary Waters. What age is right? How do you keep them safe and happy? What are potential pitfalls? With some useful suggestions, you can lay the groundwork for a positive BWCA dynamic with your family!
