  Joshua Trombley

Joshua Trombley grew up in suburbia, outside Philadelphia. He was introduced to paddling by his (future) wife Leigh Hornbeck on the pond in the backyard of her childhood home. Since then, Josh has developed a passion for paddling, even competing in the Adirondack Canoe Classic multiple times. As that passion grew, Josh became more involved with his wife's family business, Hornbeck Boats, ultimately taking on the role of CEO. "So much of my life is centered around these boats and this pond. My wife and I got married along its edge. It felt like a natural fit for me to bring Hornbeck Boats to the next generation." When he isn't paddling, Josh can be found exploring the Adirondack Park with his wife and two sons, Rushton and Devlin, or hanging out with his best friend and shop dog, Lando.

The Adirondack Pack Boat (and beyond)
Bear - upstairs Sat 4:30pm-5:15pm
Adirondack Pack Boats were designed for Victorian-era explorers brave enough to venture into the Northeast wilderness. Still popular in New York’s Adirondack Park among a new generation of explorers, a 15-pound solo canoe has piqued the interest of paddlers far and wide. Joshua will share the history of the pack boat and its evolution into a craft that offers paddlers independence that only a lightweight boat can provide. Joshua will discuss different designs: the advantages of a double-bladed paddle; different manufacturing methods; deepwoods portages, camping, and fishing. Joshua is passionate about these boats and will help you discover a new way to explore.
