Zack has worked as an outdoor wilderness guide and experiential education instructor around the world. He is an accomplished expedition sea kayaker having led and conducted sea kayak expeditions in Canada, USA, Baja Mexico, Argentine & Chilean Patagonia, Scotland, Antarctica, Iceland, Greenland, Australia, Central America and French Polynesia.

Zack is very passionate about water and its importance in our lives. He has spent the past 20 years extensively studying and exploring the Canadian shoreline of the Great Lakes. He feels the more time one spends on, in or near water, the greater the connection becomes to the world around us.

He holds double Honours Bachelor degrees in Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Tourism & Geography from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Zack now manages his own outdoor adventure paddling business based along the Canadian north shore of Lake Superior and calls this beautiful shoreline home. When he is not in Northwestern Ontario, he finds himself drawn to the polar regions.

Zack's enthusiasm and zest for life is contagious and he looks forward to sharing his stories of adventures with you!

The Forgotten Canadian Coast: Lake Superior's True Northern Island Paddlers Paradise
Bear - upstairs Fri 6:30pm-7:15pm
In this talk we will explore the human and natural history of the past, present, and future of the Canadian north shore of Lake Superior. Zack explains how his 50 day sea kayak research expedition here inspired a lifelong love and connection to the area. We will focus on the idea of slow travel by watercraft as a unique way to experience the region, gain an appreciation and zest for life and a desire to protect this special place.
