Lani Love began guiding with Chip Cochrane in 1988, and has worked as a whitewater raft guide and kayak instructor. She is a registered Maine guide with 154 Allagash trips under her belt, as well as numerous trips on the West Branch of the Penobscot , St.Croix, St. John, Moose River and the Bonaventure in the Gaspe peninsula. Lani has won several national titles in downriver whitewater canoe racing and is the reigning female national canoe poling champion. She guides back-country Nordic ski trips and has been the recreation director for Maine Huts & Trails in the western mountains of Maine. Lani enjoys traveling, adventure racing, and all things outdoors.

Chip CochraneCHIP COCHRANE began guiding with his father, Warren, and grandfather, Herb, at age 11 in 1971; since then he has accumulated more than fifty years of Allagash experience, just completing his 219th Allagash trip! A Master Maine Guide and former World Cup downhill racer for the US Ski Team, Chip has been coaching developing alpine racers at Carrabassett Valley Academy during winter months. In recent years, Chip has captured first place medals in several National Downriver Whitewater Open Canoe Championships and is currently a 26 time national canoe poling champion. Chip is also a whitewater canoe and kayak instructor and a private pilot.

We are Allagash Canoe Trips, founded in 1953 by Herb Cochrane. We are Maine's oldest continuously running guided canoe trip service. Chip is the third-generation guide, and his wife, Lani, have over 400 trips down the Allagash and the family collectively has over 700.
The 92-mile Allagash Wilderness Waterway in northern Maine is one of America's preeminent canoe trips.
